Diablo Freeride Park, host of the U.S. Open of Mountain Biking, announced today that online athlete, team and media registration is now available for the 2007 event. In 2006, the U.S. Open field was 95% pre-registered and all interested participants are urged to register in advance to secure their qualifying position.Nearly 500 athletes from 7 different countries and 37 different states, convened at Diablo Freeride Park to vie for mountain biking’s prestigious 2006 U.S. Open title. The 2006 U.S. Open was fiercely contested with top honors going to Morewood’s Lisa Myklak and John Kirkcaldie of Team Maxxis respectively.

The 2007 U.S. Open continues the tradition by offering one of downhill mountain biking’s richest cash purses of the season with both men and women’s champions receiving a lofty $5,000 cash payout for their efforts. “The U.S. Open was created to offer racers the opportunity to compete on a world-class course conveniently located at a racer-friendly venue”, said Shawn Orecchio, Diablo Freeride Park General Manager. “We take great pride in hosting the U.S. Open and we are excited to welcome the world of gravity racing to Diablo on Memorial Day weekend.”
