Photo Epic: 26TRIX - Qualification

It's hard to think that 26trix has been happening every year for the past decade and is one of Europe's most legendary events. Set in some of the most epic mountain ranges in the world, Leogang once again played host to the biggest names in mountain biking that even included BMX legend Ryan Nyquist, who unfortunately didn't make it through to the big finale much to the crowd's disappointment. However one thing that hasn't changed since the genesis of the contest is how big these guys throw down in the quest for the gold medal and ultimate bragging rights.

Everybody was blaming the rain for ruining the tracks but guess what Sun s out guns out
After some of the biggest thunderstorms the area has seen, the sun has made that nightmare a distant memory and giving us perfectly baked dirt.

Who goes up must ride down
Riders queue for the first laps of the day.

26TRIX - Qualification
Straight into the belly of the beast. A huge step up might be intimidating for some......or you can go upside down and throw some bars.

That 720 cork looked epic but unfortunately Maris was just outside of pre-qualified riders
Despite nailing the slopestyle staple trick of 2015, Maris didn't make the cut today.

26TRIX - Qualification
Blue skies makes for perfect framing.

Ryan was riding with an amazing comfort and confidence today... even if he had barely handful occasions to ride on big wheels back home... We hope to see him amongst us on many more MTB events
It's easy to say that everyone's eyes were on this man. Taking top spot in the pre-qualifier but unable to make it to the main show, hopefully we'll see more of Nyquist in future contests.

The place looked so good The weather forecast was quite opposite to what actually happened and all went as planned today
The jumps are in an ideal location and you can see every hit from pretty much anywhere.

Let the pre qualifications begin as the weather is on our side.
Maybe someone drove to the wrong event...

Style for miles... We all love big tricks but nothing can beat good ol 360 tabletop

Even the most stretched sucides are no longer giving enough points for the advance to the finals.
The standard is so high now that even super stretched suicides won't save you from getting cut.

Downsides of the Sun s out Tubes were blowing like it was New Years Eve even when the bikes were let untouched.
Here you can see one of many blown tyres. With the sun burning down inner tubes were swelling and bursting at the seems.

Sam has found his perfect shades
Fast shades combined with the best haircut of the day goes meant Mr. Reynolds was winning at life.

Daryl Brown was flying high as per usual yet something did not go accordingly to his plan
Daryl Brown was flying high as per usual, yet something wasn't quite right and he didn't make the finals. Who cares though when you can throw shapes like this.

Max Fredriksson was pre qualified for the first time at the 26Trix and we know why This guy is goin places with his tech style for sure
Max Fredriksson was pre qualified for the first time at the 26Trix and it's clear to see why.

Looking for a chill zone and some great time Look for a dirt event
  Blue steeling, massages and napping.

UK style is rooted in Mr. Reynolds as hard as his 360 table are clicked
With so many amazing angles available it can be hard to choose what photo makes an article. This one was a pretty easy choice though!

Paul Couderc was on fire till this little mistake when he should grab his bars and failed.
Paul Couderc was on fire till until a missed flip bars meant he crashed and burned.

MTB is the new BMX Ryan Nyquist never gives up on riding and thats why he should be your hero
  30 years of freestyle...

This style never get old when Ryan is behind the bars.
You might be wondering why Ryan still runs a front brake, but he uses it to stop the wheel spinning and keeps the trick in control.

Tommy G is always on the good track at 26Trix when it comes to tailwhipping through the track.
Tommy G has one of the best tailwhips in the game, nosing them in super early.

Bad luck got stiched to Tomas Lemoine during this contest as his tubes and tricks didn t get well enough. Don t worry mate you will get it next time
Tomas Lemoine blew a tyre of his rim and also his chances of advancing. We're sure he'll be back next time.

Reece Wallace proudly representing Canada in Austrian Alps

Dialed is one of the many words we could pin to Tom s style.
Tom decides to use head over using a front brake.

Tom has proven that he has got frontflips on lock

Invert not always go as planned. Pavel took a nasty crash and need to enjoy Leogang s hospitality from the hospital.

UK style is still flowing hard in Sam Pilgrim.
All those bad times from last year seem to have faded away as Pilgrim sails through in 3rd place.

Old but gold backflip tuck no hander by Mr. Pilgrim.
Which means we can enjoy more of these bangers this year.

Bangers fillerd runs are our beloved ones and that s why Nicholi is one of our favourite riders.
After bringing out all his big tricks in qualifying, we can't wait to see what Nicholi Rogatkin and bring out today.

Cork 720 don t lie. Just like whips.

Winner of the qualifications Mr. Szymon Godziek

Double grabs for the win.

Can t wait for the finals to see if anybody could take on Mr. Godziek.
After a defiant 93.00 in qualifying, Szymon was the only rider not to do a second run. Let's see how the drama unfolds - stay tuned to Pinkbike for all the action!

  • 1 0
Ahahaha yes! I have both italian and finnish cityzenship. I live in Italy, but I'm born in Finland, and as you may know Finland is partly a bilingual country and I'm from the more swedish speaking part (Vaasa) and actually never learnt finnish since I never went to school there unfortunately. So that should have cleared out your confusions ahahah
