From Europe to America with Love, the AOA (Appalachia Outdoor Adventures) would like to introduce you to an emerging race format, a new way to ride, race and enjoy good times with friends…… the multi-stage Enduro.

Learn to form a new set of expectations because this event is going down totally different than what you might expect. This is a team format, (2 to 4 person) multi-stage time trial event. Groups of teams will depart on a quest like no other. While on course your team will encounter 5 timed sections that will focus mainly on gravity runs with some features. Keeping in mind, this is Ohio, so there will be some climbs and plenty of sprinting. Each section will feature a "safe" line and a more advanced line. Think risk = reward. Each rider from your team will take an individual run on each 3-6 minute trail section. The fastest two individual times from each section will be combined for your team's overall scoring.

Look at it this way... no one is jockeying for position, cutting you off, holding you up on a decent or climb. We are going to time you on the best portions of trail AOA and the Wilds can throw at you...ride at your pace from station to station, tell stories, talk trash, or eat up some performance enhancing wafers. If you've ever done a group ride you know this is the way it goes down... you ride casually then when the fun stuff is staring you down, it's nothing but allout effort as you either try to drop your friends for bragging rights or simply find that groove that defines the ride. The effort turns to smiles as the wind silences the conversation and the flow of the trail commands your attention, skills and soul. Legendary, award-winning ales and lagers from Sierra Nevada will be awaiting you as we celebrate the Mayhem Enduro and the good times that will come with it.

Race Format:
- The format of this event in particular is novel: a Team Enduro. The team format is the key to making this event fun for riders of any ability or discipline.
- Teams of 1-4 riders head out on a predetermined course, with several minutes between each team.
- The course will have 5-6 manned timed sections, where individual riders will take off every 30 seconds and pin it for the fastest time over a 3-6 minute trail section. The team will take its fastest individual time from each section.
- The sections will be somewhat gravity oriented with some marked jumps and features that will all have optional bypasses, but there will be climbing and plenty of pedaling as well.

Race Rules:
- Team riders must start in order A,B,C,D for each section, choose your rider order wisely!
- Teams must stay, and finish together, or suffer 10sec penalty per each rider who doesn't finish with the team
- Teams must be ready at their designated race start time for the start of the Enduro - If not on time they will go at the end of the line
- Riders who jump the start on any given timed section will get a 10 second penalty
- Teams are responsible for their time sheets, loss of time sheet will result in 10sec penalty per sheet (time keepers will have a duplicate copy)
- Teams need to tally their scores after the event. This is to keep the race flowing Please don't stop during the event to figure out your time sheets
- Teams will be responsible for circling their fastest time for each section. Sheets with no time circled will get No Time! Circled times are the time your team receives for each section. Double-check your Math!
- Teams need to stay in order, don't pass other teams if possible, but it is ok to pass another team if they are stopped for a mechanical, etc
- Riders do not get reruns, unless timers call a timing error.
- Women will get a 10% timing deduction
- Riders over 50 years old will get a 5% timing deduction
- Rider over 210 pounds will get a 5% timing deduction. We will have a scale, without pack

Race Execution:
- Master’s start list will be posted on the event website prior to race day.
- Teams will leave the start in pre-designated romps of about 10 riders.
- Groups will start in waves 12 min apart.
- Groups will be following a marked course of Green arrows and course tape.
- Advanced lines (on timed sections only) will be arrowed with Pink Arrows, all Advanced lines will have Green By-Passes. We strongly advise that you do not hit advanced lines without seeing them first, as some contain mandatory gap jumps.
- Groups will arrive at a Starters station for the timed section. Here teams will identify the team to the starter, stating that they are ready to go. Starter will relay the info to the timing station. The Timer (who is at the end of the section) will record the start time and tell that time to the Starter, who will relay the information to the team leader. Starter will give each rider a 3,2,1, Go! Riders will leave every 30 seconds. With 1 minute between teams.
- I don’t get it, tell me in layman’ss terms…… Example: Team A shows up at a timed section and says they are ready at 10:15:10, Starter contacts Timer, Timer says Team A will leave at 10:15:30. Starter says to rider 1 you have 15 sec, 10, 5,4,3,2,1, GO! Rider two has a 30 sec gap. Starter tells rider 2 you have 15 sec, 10, 5,4,3,2,1, GO! Repeat as necessary. The Timer will hand a copy of the time sheet to the Team, and the Team will ride off to the next section. Please do not look at your time sheet until the end of the event. This will only cause a log jam of riders!
- After completing all sections Teams can go through their time cards, circling their fastest time for each section. Remember we will only take the circled time, check your Math!
- Rumor has it the last section might have some refreshing beverages waiting in the woods. This could be a fun place to cheer on riders and tally your scores!
- After all times are in there will be awards!
