Since its Creation in 2005, Fabrication Dobermann has offered quality bicycle frames and products to demanding riders. From Tokyo to Cape-Cod, our bikes have been flipped, whipped, grinded, and raced, much to the delight of their proud, if not die-hard, owners. The past six years have been filled with progress and growth, fueled by long days followed by sleepless nights of hard labor. We are extremely proud of the work that has been accomplished so far, yet in the past months we arrived at a crossroad.
The hours spent at the shop had started to have an effect on Alain’s and Gabo’s families. Opinions and values were starting to diverge amongst the crew and eventually changes had to be made. The outcome was better than the best scenario we had imagined.
Fred Mignault took the reins of the company and is now assuring production. He moved the shop from the suburbs of Gatineau to a larger, more modern facility in Chateauguay, on the south shore of Montreal. With the move comes new machinery and greater productivity potential. Fred has undergone the herculean task of restructuring his newly acquired endeavor. He has plans of world domination and they are not to be taken lightly!
Gabriel "Gabo" Lang moved back to his hometown of Dieppe, New Brunswick. Apart from enjoying quality time with his young family, he is working on launching his business, the Altruiste Bike Company, which will focus on Gabo's passion - the design and production of high quality steel bicycle frames. He will remain the designer for Dobermann and will continue working on the evolution of the Dob product line.
Alain Lavoie retired from the bike business. He now concentrates on spending time with his lovely wife, daughter, and year old son, as well as occasionally counseling Fred on the subtleties of our two wheeled world. Dontt be surprised if you see him at an event sporting a Dob shirt and shooting the breeze!
Film-guru and overall great guy Vincent Allard has been handed the task of managing our team riders and other Dober-gang members. You can expect a more structured approach this extended family as well as more road trips, more video edits, more Austrian imports and more Wowie-Zowie.
Production will be affected somewhat as we will begin by supplying new-generation Pinscher and Molosse frames until production can achieve its cruising speed. Expect full production as well as new products by fall/early winter.
Sometimes the step to the next level is steep and hard decisions need to be taken. Luckily we are all on good terms and will keep working with each other in some way or another. We have been blessed by amazing and loyal clients and a great network of the most awesome shops on the globe. We thank you and are looking forward to continue supplying you with the best products our hands can create for years to come.
Fred and Gabo would like to thank Alain from the bottom of their hearts for the opportunity he gave them and for the trust he had in their abilities. Working for Dobermann is the stuff dreams are made of. Those dreams are now real because of Alain.
