Out of Bounds Festival: Saalfelden Leogang is ready to go!

Only one more week to go and the Out of Bounds Festival 2013 can begin. The highlights will be without a doubt the FMB World Tour Gold Event 26TRIX (LIVE webcast will be available on Saturday, June 22nd from 6:30pm via www.redbull.com/bike) and the iXS European Downhill Cup. Alongside the action, Saalfelden Leogang has prepared many interactive side events to keep everyone entertained during the four-day bike festival. This year’s tenth edition of the Out of Bounds Festival will be the biggest one since its debut in 2003. For four days, starting Thursday, June 20th, Bikepark Leogang will become the epicenter of mountain bike action. The extensive program will include: Downhill action for the fast and furious and world-class dirt jumo during 26TRIX for the freeride fans. Everyone, whether pro or amateur, young or mature, will appreciate the spectacular performances from the participating mountain bike athletes.


26TRIX is the second FMB World Tour Gold Event this season. With a prize purse of 20,000 Euros and lots of FMB World Tour points up for grabs, the top European riders like Martin Söderström (SWE), Thomas Genon (BEL), Szymon Godziek (POL) and Sam Pilgrim (GBR) as well as a whole bunch of oversea riders will accumulate in the small town based in Austria’s Salzburger Land. Canada will be sending 5 riders to 26TRIX and so will have the biggest representation: renowned rider Darren Berrecloth, Mitch Chubey, Paul Genovese, Anthony Messere and Brett Rheeder are all going to compete. They will be joined by US-rider Greg Watts as well as by the “mad Russian cherry” Pavel Alekhin. The 26TRIX course is almost done and the new tweeks will give the riders more speed between jumps compared to last year.

German Scott-rider Peter Henke has joined the set-rider line-up and they will be accompanied by the top pre-qualifyers, who will battle for position during the pre-qualification round on Thursday, June 20th. Of course, the onsite action from 26TRIX will be awesome but for those who simply cannot be there the witness it, the finals will be shown LIVE on www.redbull.com/bike on Saturday, June 22nd, from 6:30pm (CET).


After the first two stops of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Fort William and Val di Sole, Saalfelden Leogang is the next get-together of the best downhill athletes. The Out of Bounds Festival will host the first round of the iXS European Downhill Cup on Leogang’s demanding “Speedster” track on Sunday, June 23rd from 12:30am. The iXS competition is a good chance for the downhill elite to familiarize themselves with the world championships course, since most of them will again head to Leogang in September for the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill final (date: September 19th – 22nd, further information on: www.mtb-weltcup.at


But the Out of Bounds Festival does not stop at two world-class competitions: A huge expo-area will offer deep insights into some of the top racing teams. Moreover plenty of side events like the SCOTT Junior Trophy on Sunday, the ‘obligatory’ bunny hop contest on Thursday evening, the pumptrack contest and the minibike race on Friday evening and of course the traditional Override Afterparty on Saturday evening are all part of the festival program for every visitor.
