Sam Davies: 2011

Jan 11, 2012
by Sam Davies
2011 was a busy year for me with a calendar full to the brim with races, comps, festivals, roadtrips and local riding. The year didn't disappoint in terms of the amount of shooting I managed to get done and, in my opinion an improvement in the quality of photos from 2010. This was reflected by getting 6 PODs and 2 VODs which I'm very happy with and it gives me an incentive to produce better shots in 2012 and try to beat this year. I also managed to get one of my photos in the top 32 of the Photo of the year comp where it finished in the top 16.

Here are some of my favourite photos and videos from the start of 2011 throughout the year.

A week later and POD number 3, this was from one of the last sessions at Moos trails due to a dispute about whether the jumps should stay. This dispute is still going on so they are not rideable until it gets resolved

I feel like you have the ability the shoot photos second to none, but as a videographer you make solid, technically sound pieces comprised of beautiful "moving stills" with great riding, but are yet to advance beyond rudimentary application of what can be done with in video that can't be done in still photography.

Fair analysis, I agree with the videography, it's not my strong point at the moment but I'm working on it.
