I get where you're coming from. I also feel at home on my DH bike and don't really want anything else. I just got used to climbing on it to the point where I can get up most stuff. I know I can get uphill faster on a lighter bike but it wouldn't feel as good going down the otherside or crushing that lycra cad guy on the uphills haha. Ride on!

I couldn't have said this any better. The nit-picking between long and short travel, DH and AM bikes is completely unnecessary. As you mentioned, a lot of us are at home on down hill bikes. It doesn't matter if it's too much travel for some trails, and at least you've got it when you do need it on gnarlier rides. A lot of us enjoy pushing up. I get a hike and a ride in the same day. Plus, my groin isn't on fire once I get to the top. Anyways, thanks for this write-up. I agree with you whole-heatedly. Ride what you love, don't worry about the rest.
