@imbiker: there is no shortage of amazing bikes between 2500-3000. You can search for yourself. You can go cheaper, of course, but I think that range is where ultimate value lies

@imbiker: better is an understatement. The top end bike from 2004 cant hold a candle to any of today's entry level bikes. If you consider that, bikes are actually a lot cheaper now than they ever have been. And a lot more enjoyable
