2005 will be my first year racing Pro Elite and I am really looking forward to the experience. I would like to win the Island Cup this year, it is such a fun circuit to race and very competitive. Visiting all the other places in BC and Alberta is such a reward in itself - I would definitely like to have a good time, meet some new friends & see the view from the podium!

Current & Future Projects

I have been touching on many aspects of Mountain Biking lately including working at a local bike shop (Mike’s Bikes). Mike is patiently teaching me how to become a bike mechanic and be more familiar with the millions of different bike parts! This will come in handy for racing, group rides and teaching.

I am planning to organize some group rides this summer in my community to encourage more people to get out & ride. Also to introduce new-comers to the awesome network of trails we have in the Comox Valley. To go along with that idea I would like to get my coaching certificate and put that to good use on our local mountain and beyond.

My creative side has not been forgotten since becoming a member of the Pinkbike team. I am visiting some new places and putting together articles and reviews for their website….stay tuned!

Memorable Day on my Bike

One of the coolest days I have spent on my bike was filming the Olympic Commercial for Geoff Kabush in July 2004. I appeared in the commercial with pro rider Leon May and the owners of Dodge City Cycle. We had fun riding (in the rain & mud) and I learned a lot about filming. The commercial turned out great, spotlighting Courtenay, Geoff and Mountain Biking Internationally.

Favorite part about training to be an athlete

Understanding the capabilities of the human body and feeling fit. I enjoy trying to work as much exercise into my daily life as I can. Working with weights this winter has been a learning experience and I am enjoying the benefits. I also like being able to eat large quantities of food without feeling guilty!
