Bell, over the last few years, have run events and uplift days in place of more traditional marketing and they always seem to go down well with the riders.
They tried something a little different to the normal free uplift day this time though with a free dual slalom race! Pro timing, nice relaxed atmosphere, prizes for winners as well as spot prizes and they even booked in some dry weather for the day.
The venue was the new 417 project just outside Gloucester. Sporting DH tracks, indoor pump tracks a 4X track and a sweet Dual track, which was where the days racing took place.
Bell gave 100 riders the chance to sign up in advance and come on down for a chilled day of fun, simple racing, which it's no surprise got fully booked up months ago. 9:30am rolled round, people started turning up, getting a bacon roll and signing in and getting their free goody bags and number boards.
Action sports timing were on site to make sure everything ran smoothly and the super tight racing was fair, the day started with open practice on the slick track, with qualification runs just after lunch to decide the order of the knock out heats.
With the track drying out nicely the racing got faster and faster as the day went on, with people riding everything from single braked hard tails to full on DH rigs. A few spills, lots of smiles but all in all a great day was had, and lots of free helmets won / given away and the rain even stayed away.
Cheers to all the riders for coming along and the next event is at Forest of Dean next month for another of the much loved free Bell Ride Free uplift days.
