Romain Saladini was back from an injury and quickly back on form, taking fourth in the final.

Chris Kovarik won a race held here the week prior to the Maribor WC and a ninth place during qualifying showed his familiarity with the new track. "I hate the woods the most. Minnaar was the final rider on the track in practice and took an unusual-for him-number of runs before qualifying (5 vs his typical 2). But the extra laps were worth it: he owned the track today, beating all comers.
Rachel Atherton was on form, beating out Sabrina Jonnier by 2.02 seconds. Not bad for racing with a broken finger.
"Sluggo" Beaumont came down eighth on the day, nearly 6 seconds back. "I left some seconds up there for sure... But I know where I messed up, so I'll be faster tomorrow."
