The Harper Hoe Down weekend has arrived!

Jun 5, 2008
by Tyler Maine
Everyone that has ever ridden Harper in Kamloops has loved it and those that attended the Hoe Down last year did an amazing job!

Well it's that time of year again for the Hoe Down to take place this weekend.Saturday 10 AM start at the group campsite (bottom parking lot)
Saturday 4 PM catered BBQ from Fresh is Best Salsa (and it's a BYOB)

Please feel free to camp out over night at the group campsite.
Sunday - casual group rides (and tours if needed) all day

What to bring: lunch and drinks, gloves, sturdy boots
We'll have some water, shovels, pulaskis, rakes, etc... but feel free to bring your own if preferred.

Here is a short list of projects for the weekend:

1) a new trail through the cutblock above the firepit

2) a short cutoff/connector trail from below the spiral and above the Hurtin' Albertan to get you back towards the firepit that joins in on the old trail through the cutblock

3) the end of the IMBA trail above the spiral - re routed so it flows downwards into the steep shale section rather than a grunt out. Also a bit of wood work over a tricky root if we have the lumber on site.

Cheers - and hope to see you there.
... and please reply so we can count the burgers and dogs...

damn, I wish your group was on Vancouver Island. All we have is SIMBS (south island mountian bike society) and they're basicly a trail wrecking joke, unless there's been some huge ass changes since my last few encounters with their work...

Hello folks. Some answers for you:

The firepit is the first right off the old shuttle road, way lower down, long before than the ski lodge.
Look for our bright yellow maintenance signs.

If you're there at 10am then meet us in the lower parking lot group campsite.

No, we have nothing to do with the ski lodge or ski runs.

Yes, we get blamed for "wrecking" trails and features too, but hey, you win some you lose some :-)

Thanks for the support!

Are they going to be making new runs for the ski season too? That would be pretty tight! Smile
