Midland Downhill Championships News

The Midland Down Hill Championship 2008 take place over the weekend of 28/29th June 08 there are still places available in the race get onto http://www.nps4x.com/cupentry08.htm and enter now.A Midland downhill champion will be crowned for each of the categories at the final round of the Caersws Cup series on Sunday 29th June the race is open to anyone with 3 sets of podiums at the end of the day for race day winners, series winners and Midland Champions.

The Midland Championships is open to anyone who lives in the midlands area as defined by British cycling.

British Cycling Ranking Points to top 40 riders in each class.
The race is a Category "D" so anyone finishing 31stand above in every class will get the minimum 10 points required for next years NPS DH series.

Camping:
There is a big field for tents, caravans & motor homes right next to the finish arena. Hot & Cold food and toilets on site which makes an ideal place to chill out between runs and watch the racing action

Location:
Situated in the heart of beautiful Mid-Wales between Newtown and Machynlleth

Background:
Caersws is a private forest used for regional and national races over the past 5 years, we ran the first race at Caersws in 2003 which was won by Marc Beaumont riding for Royal team. Since then four courses have build by the local riders to make this an ideal place to run a series on 3 different courses. Rich Bob along from the Brooks Cycles is constantly building and improving the courses to give you the best riding experience.

Rider's categories:
No licence required
Age range from just 12 years old up to over 40+
Hard tail 12+
Juvenile 12-14
Youth 15-16
Junior 17-18
Senior 19-29
Master 30-39
Veteran40+
Expert
Pro Elite

Course:
The race will use the same track used for the last National Downhill in 2007 with a few of the tight tricky corners been taken out and new sections built to make the track flow into the big swooping sections down the edge of the forest and finishes in the big open arena making this an ideal place for spectators to watch all the race action.
Live Timing:
The latest Tag Huer timing system displays your time as you cross the finish line. Results are printed within 5 minutes at the end of each category.
All riders are reseeded for the second race run.

Podium Presentations:
There going to be a truck load of trophies at the podiums not only is this Midlands Champs but also the final round of the Caersws Cup.

Podiums are for the:
top 3 overall in each category for the Round 3
Top 3 overall for each category in the Series
Top 3 highest placed riders from the Midlands
Astrix Europe will be on site display the latest bikes and to hand one lucky person the latest Astrix hard tail frame.
