Unit Farm Jam

Dirt jump course.

Taking the day off of riding, Ryan and Chris made the trek over to the Frew family ranch to check out the Unit Farm Jam. With a mix of FMX, mountain bike and BMX dirt jumping, and a laid back atmosphere, the Farm Jam turned out to be a great choice as a break from training.

Extension.
Dialed extension from Levi Sherwood

The FMX jam kicked off at 2pm and was a definite crowd pleaser. Talent was in the air (no pun intended) as Kiwi locals mixed with national pros and world class athletes alike. Although everyone was going big, it was Levi Sherwood's consistency and perfected style that landed him the top spot in all three event categories(best trick, best style, best overall).

Backflip tuck-no hander

With the mountain bike and BMX riders warming up on the same course, continuous trains of flips and flow got the crowd amped as practice came to a wrap. First up for the jam session were the mountain bikers. The skills shown seemed enough to match those of a high level FMB event. Tricks such as double backflips, 720s, flip whips and frontflips were a common sight on the perfectly built course. Good vibes, high fives and pristine dirt had the RDR team riders itching to join in on the fun. UK's Matt Jones (above) killed the comp and landed himself the top spot overall as well as best trick. Shortly following the mtb jam, it was play time for the BMX crew. Progression was the name of the game as the air got bigger and the tricks got harder. No matter how big the crashes, nothing seemed to phase the riders as their determination made for one hell of a show!

The drop-in to World Cup

Many more days have been spent getting the riders ready for the upcoming Dirt Masters DH race and the bike park continues to provide above par terrain for the team's ongoing training. Progression is evident with the riders feeling much smoother and in tune on a day to day basis. The Scott Gamblers combined with Manitou suspension are proving to handle the steep rough terrain with ease while still allowing for a good enough pedaling efficiency to make the 10km commute to and from the bike park effortless.

Words of Wisdom
Ryan Baskerville s top cap
The team continues to stay true to Ryan's top cap, and, Ryan's top cap continues to distract the "lifties".

Another great big thanks to Rapid Descent Racing's sponsors: Scott, Deity, Sapim, S4 Suspension and Parry Sound Bikes.

To be continued...
