The Crew at Sharpey's in Burnaby BC is looking for your help if you've got spare time.

by Tyler Maine
Jimi from Sharpey's Cycles in Burnaby B.C. recently sent out this letter asking to spread the word that they are looking for some help in their time of need.

I'll let his letter do the talking, please read."Our 4 year old son Ryder has been in at the Childrens Hospital for the past 24 days and has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain cancer. As we are a family run business, my wife and I have been pulled out of everyday life and the running of the shop to care for our son at the hospital. We are lucky enough to have friends that are trying to do their best to run the shop and keep the doors open but of course are struggling to keep up at this busy time of year. We wanted to to ask everyone to ask around to see if they know of anyone whould might be kind enough to volunteer a bit of thier time to help out at the shop. This can be shop floor or mechanics. Any help would be very much appreciated. We ask for your prayers and positive energy to help our son and our family make it through this. For updates please visit:

kind regards,

I'm so sorry to hear about Ryder. I just took part in the relay for life here in my hometown and it is humbleing to see the survivor walk and the luminary ceremonies. THIS DISEASE HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED. Anyone who is anywhere near these people should do all they can to help them out, loosing a business can not happen in a time like this... Me and my family will be wishing the best for you and your son...

Holy crap. You are two very amazing parents. I don't think I could maintain any kind of composure if I were in your shoes. Keep doing what you are doing. Wishing Ryder all the best.

I just read the article above and it honestly brough me to tears. I have a 3 year old son myself named Kyden who also loves to bike at this tender age. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through... I read that there is a trust fund set up; let me know how I can help...

Hey i live in at Hastings and Boundary just inside Vancouver and i bought my bike from you guys when t was under different management at the time.
I'm looking for a job right now and in the spare time i have right now i would be glad to help out. I could just help around the shop move things etc...
I'll help out as much as i can but I'm defiantly not a bike mechanic and I would be better at just " Helping " physical labor.
Ill bus down there in a hour or so and see if you need any help ( have to wait an hour to wake my brother up... )
Thanks- Grant
