Trail Days 2019 - Glentress, Scotland

Trails Days 2019 was bigger and better in its second year! A weekend of camping, music, riding and all things mountain bike in probably the best mountain bike destination in the UK, Glentress. For 2019 Specialized enlisted some additional support form the likes of Sram and Weldtite to offer riders attending even more from their weekend of riding with uplifts, tech demonstrations and repairs. There were also guided rides where riders could be taken straight to the best riding and have some coaching along the way!

Riders started turning up from Thursday with the festival kicking off Friday morning, thankfully for the campers, the Scottish weather played ball maintaining the stoke.


Thanks to SRAM there were free uplifts to the trails at Glentress and Innerleithen, the latter being well known for its inclusion in previous EWS rounds. They were also providing mechanical support for riders that needed tweaks to the bikes before hitting the trails, this was alongside in-depth tech sessions where SRAM mechanics went through important elements of riding like correct suspension set up and setting up a drivetrain.


Post ride there was a bike wash with a full assortment of cleaning products and tools supplied by Weldtite that were free to use all weekend, this was onto of also providing discounted guiding sessions with Dirt School a local guiding a coaching group in Glentress. Guided groups were joined by Specialized Ambassadors Hannah Barnes and Helen Gaskell!


When the riding was done there wasn't a shortage of "Trail Ale" to be drunk with all donations going to help local trail builders in the Peebles area. Red Bull providing music during the day with live music from the likes of UK Foo Fighters and JayDee. Saturday evening had a pump track challenge on a somewhat challenging pump track due to the entire area being sloped, it made it all the more challenging for riders and thus more entertaining for spectators.


Soil Searchers were also present and set up a dig day on one of the local trails in need of some maintenance, joined by Specialized riders Joel Anderson and David Mcmillan the trail was swiftly repaired. A one off Stumpjumper was also auctioned off and won by one lucky rider, all proceeds of the auction are donated to local trail building organisations around the UK.


Being a mountain bike festival there was of course plenty of riding to be had throughout the Glentress trail centre and Innerleithan
