Wind, rock, dust and great performances! Here is the sum of this race weekend for the KTM Vittoria Team during this SKF French Cup, in Marseille.

False flats and headwind that the starts on this steep, technical and long course. You will have to be physically ready with strong mind to avoid mistakes. Many singles, tight bends, narrow portions make up this race, so you will have to be warm from the start line!

This SKF French Cup is part of the Junior Series cup, so we are witnessing a very high level U18 race. Switzerland, UK, Italy, Belgium, Spain, the strongest XCO nations are there. Tatiana shows control and confidence by taking the Hole Shot as the wind intensifies on this first line! At the head of the race, she choose her lines. The Swiss Monique Halter attacks and manages to break away despite everything. The Italian Valentina Corvi also returns and it is difficult to hold the wheel. Tatiana finds the resources and stays out of reach of Lilou Fabregue. Tatiana finished on the third position to concluded this great race, and first french rider!

Let’s go to the women’s elite race, the wind seems to be decreasing on the Luminy site, despite many gusts of wind. Léna starts in front and takes place at the first ascent in the wheel of Loana Lecomte, 6th of the last Olympic Games. The rhythm is high, the stones are slippery and dusty, but the legs are there! Until in the second lap, the rear suspension became stiff, no longer offering the cushioning necessary to play at the front positions. Léna loses a few places but comes back again on Sara Cortinovis. The race is long and challenging. It is after 1h39 of racing that Léna comes to cross the line in a good 6th place, behind two French and three Italian.

The last race of the Marseille weekend is coming… The pressure is on among the elite men! While all the previous categories have sanded the track, they too will have to play with the gusts of wind. Maxime, bib 19, takes a great start and pushes hard on this first road line. On the first turn, launched at full speed, a competitor shifts against Maxime. The seconds seem long, he takes off both feet, leaning against another rider, he narrowly avoids a heavy fall. On this fear the heartbeat rises high, very high! Hard to bring it back down when you have to power through to stay in the race. The laps follow on and Maxime uses his skills on this track which suits him. Difficult to win some positions as segments are challenging and the race long. Stay focus! Maxime manages and complete this race in 13th position, 7th best French rider.

“Another great race weekend despite difficult weather conditions. The riders were able to go beyond and their performances are very encouraging for the next steps! Next week leaving to Switzerland for the final settings before Petropolis, the first 2022 World Cup in Brazil.” Jérôme Dericbourg – Team Manager

See you next March 26 and 27 in the Rivera – Monte Ceneri for the ÖKK Bike Revolution Tamaro Trophy!
