what they did when they spec'd the Signal was substitute heavier 3-piece cranks for cheaper 1-piece cranks, but with the extra savings, they added a killer set of rims, good brakes, and lighter pegs. it was a part sacrifice they had to make in order to get a better preforming bike for a better price.
