ha ha ha --- I did that using dry-wall nails --- I covered the nail heads on the inside of the tire with duct tape --- that tire was rock solid for icy riding but, shit was lethal if by chance you slipped off and you had contact with the spinning tire.

yeah ---- I thought it was a great idea but after setting it all up, I was like ----- ahhh, holy crap, I have a mishap, that's gonna rip the shit outta my leg, foot, back-side, any body part that comes in contact. I used it about 4 times and put them away for good. just a bit too Mad-Max-ish

ha ha ha, thats the point, it means you're serious about grip! lol

Reminds me of something! I've put about 2x250 screws to a pair of specialized tyres and they work a treat.

Inner tube is put inside an opened tube + ductape inside the tyre to cover screw heads!

500 screws, that's a few days work lol

Yeah it took me two complete afternoons to predrill every hole and screw the ~250 screws per tyre. But that was definitely worth it.

Did you use them on packed snow or ice? Interesting that you skipped the middle knobs, that must shave some weight, did it significantly reduce grip?

this is my friends tire, i have similar waiting to be mounted... it's plenty grippy, with lower pressures it engages both side of the screws Smile

 Duct tape does the trick.
I did exactly the same 15 years ago for the Latvian winters.
It looked real good on a Klein Attitude Big Grin

Magura Smile

Did you put bolts on or it didn't unscrew like this?

Running them tubeless may be even easier.
