single vs dual crown axle to crown race was something I just sorta stumbled upon one day ---
we were comparing a Totem to a BoXXer or maybe it was a 66 to and 888... pure tape rule type thing --- center of the axle to where the crown race sits on the fork --- even though it's a 20mm travel difference, it's a silly close technical difference ---pretty sure it was under 10mm --- whatever it was, instead of a zero stack headset cup, you replace it with a 5mm stack headset cup (on the bottom) -- bottom line, there's very little difference of how the bike sits on the ground

**** I don't agree with the mud guard thingy --- not for the mud we have around here --- it's too tacky --- shit's gonna get in there no matter what, I'd rather give it the chance to break free than trap it behind the mud guard ... same reason most fork companies stopped selling forks with fork boots --- www.pinkbike.com/photo/11854411

for those NOT in the know ---- there's only a very slight axle to top of crown difference between that 180mm fork you see there and a 200mm dual crown fork of any given brand. You can totally offset that small difference with a "stacked" headset lower cup instead of the zero stack headset that comes with the frame.
travel difference of course is still 20mm but the way the bike actually lays out, we're talking around 5mm's total difference.
