 Ahh shit. All pivot bearings?
Mine felt smooth riding it, was only when I took the shock out and moved the linkage by hand I could feel it.

No mate just bb I think, gt85 and a ride and its losened up again but needs replacing now, will strip and check pivot bearings now as good chance they may be sticky! Roll on the summer!

Gary do you run a front mudguard. I found that fixed my thirsty headset, it used to work up all the spray otherwise.

I rarely run a guard. And then it's only a neoprene one between crown and arch on forks. The Hope set should be better me hopes!

I hope a hope on my meta sx, greased it up good and proper on fitting, it's been fine ever since.

what is hidden in plain view? eh haha

Not that good as 8 out of 10 bearings are fucked! Headset is rubbish as well, full of mud and bearing has gone rusty! On of the linkage bolts was only finger tight. Hidden In Plain View are, or were a band around 10 years ago.

There was a layer of mud in the headset. Not seen that for years. Got a Hope one coming. Just ordered some pivot bearings now. Think I'm gonna be getting the HT out. Thinking about selling the Five...
  • 1 0
Ohh would be all over that five if I had the money haha

I love riding a HT but never have used a FS intensively so I can't really talk about it, but glad about not replacing that amount of bearings Razz

Ohh if you seen what I have in the shop, there are nightmares under those cups, but never have seen a solid layer of mud

Remember when we got gassed by a BB....

You got gassed but a BB?

The Five is great, 2 bearings, that's it. They're pretty big as well so stay smooth longer.

You replacing all bearings? Where you ordering them?
  • 1 0
Yeah replacing all of them. Ordered them from a UK bearing supplier. £20 for the 10 frame bearings and postage.
Replacing stock headset with a Hope rather than changing the bearing out.

Do you need a special tool to replace them? And how do you know what sizes you need? Never replaced frame bearings before.

The bearing number will just be written on the rubber seal on the bearing itself. For example, 6804 or something (6804 is a pretty standard hub bearing)

What Harry said. They do sell a kit on the Commencal store. It's €30 plus postage.
It does have the bearing sizes listed on their website so you could order some before you strip it out.
You will need a bearing press/puller. Although there are some homemade hacks that will work as well.
