No worries. What are those brakes you have on there though?..oh and that cassette looks tidy nice..guess that's a SRAM one?

The brakes are hayes stroker ace 4 pots, had them in the shed for ever! lol Will replace them with XT's soon.
The cassette is a SRAM PG1070.

SRAM cassettes always look much nicer than Shimanos..I think I'll pick up a SRAM driver soon...was thinking to get a Hope steel freehub to replace my aluminium one because it has those gouge marks on it..but I've seen the steel ones do the same..so I might go for SRAM instead in the future when it's time to upgrade.

Yeah, the steel ones still gouge, but not half as badly as the alloy ones. Sram cassettes still do it too! But, you are right, the sram cassettes do look nicer, also ar ea fair bit lighter too.

Oh lol I didn't know the SRAM cassettes did gouge also.. I checked my Hope aluminium freehub just out of curiosity about 2 weeks after buying the wheel and I had ridden my bike only a few times and not hard by any means or up any big hills and my freehub had the marks there to be seen...I have no idea if how tight you do up the lockring has any effect on it, I don't know.

In theory, it should be done up at 40nm, but if you ride hard, you will still get some gouging. It's amazing how much lateral force can be put though the pedals.

Hmm I'm wondering if I didn't tighten it up enough to start with. I'm know after I checked it and put it back together I did it up nice and tight that time..I haven't checked it since though..

All of my free bodies are gouged even though tightened correctly. The worst one is the Easton haven freebody.

Are they!, ahh well I guess it's just how they are then. Most likely better of to just stick with my Hope aluminium free hub until /or if it ever dies..
