NO it is not poisonous. Red on black is a friend of Jack. Red on yellow will kill a fellow. Corn snake. It just looks similar to the coral snake.

 King or milk snake. Scarlet milk snake also. One and only encounter for me. Kind of a rare find I was told. Another cool rare snake is the green tree snake. I've seen twice.

 @DrippingPink: Yeah, you're right, super rare to find in the wild. I was an amateur herpetologist for a number of years and searched for all kinds of reptiles...never seen one in the wild. I was lucky enough to see an Arizona Mountain King once at Mount Lemmon in Tucson...

 I was so shocked and excited when he popped out of the dirt. I was glad I didn't hurt him as I was digging.
