Yes indeed. I think I heard all the bulls bugle once. I have a video of the closest one trailing a cow bugling, and I have a far off video of the harem of cows at the viewing center with a bull bugling in distance. I will upload a couple videos once I get a minute.
I read this subspecies has the biggest antlers, with bulls weighing in around 700-800. Roosevelt Elk are the largest body wise 900+ but have slightly smaller racks.
@baggyferret: Yeah, I agree. Moose get much bigger body wise, smaller antlers to body ratio though. I do need to bag a whitetail deer or two this year, I'm not much for killing anything, but I just love them so much I want to eat them! Hahaha! There is a place here that makes killer hot sausage from your deer if you want, it is tasty as heck.
None in New York yet... there was a Moose spotted about 45 minutes east of here last year though. The Elk were from a trip to Pennsylvania, about mid state North/south and 3/4 of the way west, they have a pretty large herd.
