Those bull Elk are massive! Did you hear any bugle?
  • 2 0
Yes indeed. I think I heard all the bulls bugle once. I have a video of the closest one trailing a cow bugling, and I have a far off video of the harem of cows at the viewing center with a bull bugling in distance. I will upload a couple videos once I get a minute.

I read this subspecies has the biggest antlers, with bulls weighing in around 700-800. Roosevelt Elk are the largest body wise 900+ but have slightly smaller racks.

@zapbranigon: thats still a monster! my canadian friend used to hunt moose, i think they grow even bigger? im just happy to shoot with camera now

@baggyferret: Yeah, I agree. Moose get much bigger body wise, smaller antlers to body ratio though. I do need to bag a whitetail deer or two this year, I'm not much for killing anything, but I just love them so much I want to eat them! Hahaha! There is a place here that makes killer hot sausage from your deer if you want, it is tasty as heck.

@zapbranigon: my friend had some great hunting stories...
yeah a deer steak or ten would be nice, sausages sound good too, plenty of added chilli!

theres elk in new york? or did you go on a trip somewhere?
  • 1 0
None in New York yet... there was a Moose spotted about 45 minutes east of here last year though.
The Elk were from a trip to Pennsylvania, about mid state North/south and 3/4 of the way west, they have a pretty large herd.
