Very cool read my man. My only fatty experience (with bikes) is the on-one, and tonkadogs Surly pug...I rodetwo cheap fatties that don’t really qualify (my friends mongoose beast and 3+ fortress)
I like the looks of the kona, I’d really like a shorter vintage frame build fatty for all day ease. Keep rocking bro.

@SEADEVIL: Oh yeah, very cool! I saw one of these after I bought the on-one. They are super cool looking little rigid machines! I’d love to give one a try.

I likes! What are her specs, hub space, bb, etc. how do you compare the ride to all the past fatty fun?

My answer would take 20 pages. The Ice Cream truck was steel, solid, superb, low and long, 100mm wide rims, 4.8 tyres a lump to keep riding, you'd be spinning fast but riding slow, but...on the sand, in the sea, downhill and singletrack she was a monster !!! If you were on expedition and to face the unexpected, the ICT is the only bike in the world to rely on for 100% go anywhere, do anything...but not quickly. I'm being very brief here mind....negatives on her...if you ain't backpacking, her weight, BB and chainring prices, positives...steel, crack frame, could be welded in a back street garage in the far east easily.
Felt fattys, light, lively, twitchy at speed, drop the tyre pressure, gripped like glue on a Schwalbe 4in, good maxle system for a cheap bike, same forks as higher priced Scotts and Cannondales.
On One..had the large, only built to sell on for a profit with the Salsa Mukluk Mk3 parts.
Salsa Mk3, well balanced, long back triangle (but adjustable an inch forward/back for quick singletrack or all day controlled rides). Great spray job and finish, Great build and welds.
Specialized Fatboys...had 3, great bikes overall, pretty light, ground control tyres very grippy for winter, but a 4.6 on a light bike with carbon forks a bit of a negative. I had 2 with carbon one with alloy, keep GC tyres for winter slogging and skidding. Slows you down under 18psi, but a 4in On One Floater made them bitches fly like the wind. Negative, like my Spesh Fyuse, too low and very long top tube, so to get the best out of her 45mm stem, 30mm riser bars 800mm wide, or 50mm for a perfect sit up all day mince around any terrain.
Mukluk Mk 1. I got now up for sale...perfect in every way, so in two minds to sell, high head tube like a XC bike, light and flickable all terrain, any condition, running 4.8 up front, 4in on rear, Surly 80mm rims Hope hubs, fit and forget, basic easy to maintain bb. She's that tall you can run flat bars 760mm and a 70mm stem upside down -5* and she still feels really tall. Got me out of quicksand in the summer...well, half way. Lively flighty well balanced ride over any terrain, Surly Bud up front, Nate on the rear...spot on combo.

May try a Beargrease in alloy, but still fancy a Mukluk 2017 also. Loads more i can say, but fire away and hopefully I can help you. Both fat bikes I got are tubeless...Stans in the Mk 1 and Cafe Latex in the new Salsa.
