the latter is lighter and stronger.... mid/spanish is just a usa bb without a cup to protect it, which shouldn't be a problem if the bb would actually be pressed in. In reality, bb's are a tighter fit because warping after being welded, which means that the bearings have to be forced in meaning the frame will put pressure on the bearing, without a cup to protect it.....I have yet to feel a mounted midd bb that's as smooth as a euro....
Hollowtech bearings are outside the bb pot, so no pressure at all, and just as big bearings....look how Martins LX Hollowtech II is doing compared to my S&M mid bb in my Fit.
It's only better than normal euro bb's where the bearings sit inside the bb pot, but who uses these anyway?
