Do I see a reflector on your pedal? Nightrides are insane, bud! We were late once with another 500vertical meters / 7km to ride. It became pitch dark and we decided to leave the trail and take a gravel road we actually know by heart. Unable to even see the front tire we took our feet off the pedals and let it go. Holding them slightly above the ground leaves at least some room for correction when feeling out grass and bushes instead of gravel before swinging off the way.
Funny now that you mentioned the reflectors, I was supposed to take them off a long time ago, and completly forgot about them. And what makes it worse, is that I had taken them ofr my HT to put them on my F1, just to see how it would look like... Did any of you all wipe out that day???
No, not deviating from the gravel road was the easy part during this 20min blind-ride. But we were constantly whistling and yelling in order to acoustically locate each other instead of crashing into the rider up front....
