There diesel, they get exceptional gas millage for what they are. They aren't designed to be hard core off road vehicles, there designed for hauling and towing. As far as tacky engineering I dont see any Asian or European full size truck that competes with the big 3 from detroit with the exception of the Toyota Tundra which is lacking a diesel motor.
I think you'll find that they arnt actually that good towing, unless you have the V8 version. 20mpg is not good. Over here we have trucks that will do 30 to 35 mpg. Youll probably find that the toyota landcruiser will pull much more, more comfortably and cheaper to run.
And leviEmp , how can you make a comment like that without even knowing me. I think you'll find i know a little more than you think when it comes to these types of vehicles seeing as we own some bigger better off road machines!
these trucks are some of the best mass produced towing and real world living trucks around. true, there are some euro commercial trucks out there, but they do not live upto day to day operations of use to have as a work truck and then be able to drive them home for the night. euro trucks are either commercial or light duty. and i should say that euro or asian trucks do not meet the utility that a good chevy, dodge, or ford full size can handle.
find the right truck for the right job. all over the world there is some bad ass trucks, but chevy nailed it for good looks, power, long life, and utility.
just my opinion...
