 I think the second shock is linked to the top of the first shock and when that bottoms out, the second shock will move. Basically two shocks for more travel . . . I think

 the second shop is for bottom out resistance, so after blowing through the stroke of the first one, you don't bottom harshly. the DHX will likely be set quite soft and the RP23 rather stiff, to make it super plush but not about to bottom. look at the 2 stage bikes.

 they aren't pivots. they are to mount the seat. so if you want to seat back more you change the front mount to the rear mount.

 well if theres two shocks so that it dont bottom out, why not put one shock with more travel? it would look alot better and not be soo complicated
