pong really dude... four stroke's suck their not good in water and their half the power, inless you get a 450. and on a 2 stroke you dont have to do valve's and they are less to maintain by a long shot.
true man, i co-op'ed at a shop for a semester. and 4 strokes yea they might break less, but when they do plan on dropping alot of money into it, rather then 200- a year on a top end
well yea i've worked at a smal engine place now for a year and when the four strokes brake they brake bad, ike i got a 2002 kx 250 and i havent had to put a cent into the motor yet and ive had it for 2 year's now.
you guys cleary dont know alot about dirtbikes haha, why would you drive a dirtbike in the water anyways? waste of time, second of all; if you were driving them through water the 4stroke would clearly be better, you dont get the peak of power in a 2 stroke till your midway through the RPM, there for you have less torque at lowerspeeds, meaning that the 4 stroke would give you more bottom end power in a quicker time frame. also 4 strokes do break, you just dont notice it as the top end is less likely too come out like a 2 stroke would. if you have a 4stroke race bike you should be doing the top end about every 10 hours or so...or your just digging yourself a whole for when the motor does come apart. if you wear a piston out, its more likely to crack/break or come apart, you dont need shavings or chunks of metal in your bottom end. or you could be replacing that aswell
Have you ever gone trail riding?? Alot ofthe te there is water on them. An second, the only time a 2 stroke is hard to ride is when your a f*ckin pussy who can't handle a power band... Ps. I know alot of people won't 4 strokes who races, as well as mechanics, and every 10 hours is a little exccessive
and for the record, your lack of knowledge is most likely why your bike stillll hasnt sold... I bought my 05 yz250 last year for 3000, and your trying to sell the same year 125... you might get 2500...
"harrisonbiker": are you dumb four stokes in water will f*ck right up because their more sencitive to water (p.s) there is water on trails have you ever heard of a river crossing.. secondly: with a 2 stroke you dont have to be in the power and 24/7 dumby, i got a kx 250 and you never have to be on the power band in water. and pistons shoudent go that fast, ive had my bike for 3 years about 120 hours on it and it still has 130 pounds of pressure in it.. so the fact is if you know what your doing and you know how to sevice your bike after ride's you can make shit last.
I'd have to say your bike is a beaut. Props man. Sexy as hell. both are great. Liek 2 strokes power bands are wild, but the new 4 strokes all shit too. So its going either way. 2 strokes are cheaper to run and maintain yes, who cares, 4 can be good and clean too. But anyways, PROPS
4 strokes. if u keep dumping money into them. there nice, but 2 strokes, to me, are the way to go, as long as you dont race and replace piston and rings everyyear then you will be fine
four strokes are better for motorcross by far way more power out put i know going from a 125 to 250f big difference way more power and alot smoother to ride so two strokes arent better
way to much money in the engine is your brain small it cost 50 dollers or less to get valves adjusted and it shouldnt blow up if you consider that lost ur dumb and 4 stroke have way more power
they do suck your money unless you ride like a puss. Consider oil changes, valve adjustments, and most of all the rebuilds. As for more power no, more bottom end torque yes. A 125 2 stroke is relative to a 250 4stroke. It's all about personal preference I myself like both but i would prefer a 2 stroke because they are lighter, cheaper to run, and i love the power band. they are shit for wheelies though go 4 stroke for that shit.
You don't have to replace the pistons and rings every year in a 2 stroke or every 15 hours i have friends who had 2 storkes and never lost compresion and they had the bike for 3 or 4 years never opened the motor. It all depends if u want to or not if you race the bike all the time you should replace the rings and pistons, thats for to keep the bike working at top performance to get u on the podium but if you only use the bike on the weekends you wont have to the most i would just check the compresion every so often and if yor bike is losing compresion then change the rings you shouldnt open the motor unless there is a absoulte need too
