colt, ive known you for a long long time. weve ride together alot, hell we pretty much only ride together. but you and i both know that you wont even be able to come close to ride that bike the way it was made or come close to what its capable of. and yes i know that i cant do what my bike is capable of either. but i admit im a panzy and i dont need that much bike. so spare me the poser talk.

for one the bottle rocket doesnt even have 6 inches of travel and i know it can go big but it wont be as plush. and a stinky would be way better downhill. its almost a downhill bike. i do know a little about what im talking about im no expert but i know well enough what colt and i like to do with our bikes and i just dont think it will be as comfortable of a ride and i know there are way better bikes for him than the bottlerocket. my dad rides a 5 inch travel bike and i know it would be brutal to do all those things colt and i do with it. it would wear me out way faster and it wouldnt be as nice of a ride.

hey colt one more thing. is that freerideguy14 your grandpa? he commented on both our pics but i dont know who he is. apparently he likes to read.

Yup I love to read. I don't ever ride I just sit on pinkbike and look at cool pictures like this. If your friend wants to buy a bike let him, his money, his choice. When you buy a new bike, assuming that you're getting into riding, you kind of work your way up to that skill level of the bike. I beleive having a nice bike actaully helps you improve. Buying a new bike that may be a little bit abouve your skill level shouldn't consider you a chav or a poser. As long as he gets out there and rides, and doesn't buy the bike and buy a bunch of bike clothes just for the looks. So in conclusion, buying a nice bike, that may be a bit abouve your skill level helps you improve at becoming a better rider. You have to ride-up to "earn that bike" as you would probably say. Until he buys the bike and sits at the skatepark or bikepark (without riding) then give him the fifth grade "poser talk"

oh im totaly fine with him bying a new bike. i dont want him to downgrade. he has a stinky which is a great bike and has helped him tons. i dont want him to downgrade to that little bottle rocket and then not be as confident or comfortable at the stuff we are doing.

I stinky is NOT better than a bottlerocket for all around riding. And you said it's a downgrade? why give him all these poser speaches and crap?
  • 1 0
no its not. but the stinky is better for downhill and drops and the extra travel is very forgiving which is what we aim for. i ride with colt every weekend and we both love having extra travel for the bigger stuff. a bottle rocket just isnt going to give colt the forgivness and confidence to become a better rider. if colt wanted to go street riding all the time then id say go for it but he likes steep downhill speed. colt and i have been riding together for almost two years and we are best friends. and friends dont let friends make costly nistakes like buying a bottle rocket and then every thing gets harder to do and then loses confidence.

To be honest I don't even know if a stinky will ride better for downhill. I doubt it would ride better than a bottlerocket. Second, the bottlerocket is the last thing you want for street. I'm assuming you probably do alot of stairsets and drops to flat, jumps to flat and such. Do you even have any idea what you're talking about? about 6 inches of travel is well enough for several types of riding unless you think you can do some 40 footers. Or if you're doing lots and lots of drops to flat...

id expect a dream bike to be better.

It suits his needs. Not everybody dreams of a cove shocker with a 2010 boxxer world cup on it. The bottlerocket is a dream bike for many...

 it suits my needs

i guess. but even a hard tail from mongoose would do that.
