Perhaps because i want to run breaks?

Your build looks more for dirtjumps, park and street.
Not flatland?

got it for a nuber of reasons..
firstly, it was dirt cheap & its bloody strong.
secondly, this will be the last bike I build up for a long time so I always wanted to leave my options open so if i wanted i could run both breaks as i will ride this bike for pretty much everything including some commuting, trails, park, dirt & flat land.
and thirdly I love doing techy tricks that a break really helps out with Smile

Hi rob. Your build is looking good mate. Are you permanently going to run a front brake? Cos U-brakes are useless on the front. Get some really sticky pads if you do. And by the way, the ano coating will soon wear off your front rim. My rear purple haze is starting to get rim brake wear. I hate to see the purple go Frown

Properly set up U break on the front work brilliantly, and hopefully I will have a chrome front rim when i get some more cash so paint wear wont be a problem. Smile

dont get a cheap chrome rim though. you know little kieran? his cheap chrome rims peeled and they now look rubbish.

get some of these. cgi.ebay.co.uk/4Pair-8Pads-Trials-Specific-Compound-Clear-V-Brake-Pads_W0QQitemZ190364977487QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item2c52a3094f loud but oh so grippy

I'm not going to cheap out on a chrome rim, neither am i going to buy unnecessary trials pads lol I know how to set up a break, and the stock eclat pads Im getting are more than powerful enough. Smile

Are chrome rims chrome coated or chrome all the way through? confused. i was thinking of getting chrome sas but it says disc only :S
  • 1 0
Only the surface of the rim is coated in chrome, the sas probably has a very thin layer of it so it inst advised to used with rim breaks, usually the more you pay the better/thicker the chrome layer is. And if you keep it dry and salt free it should last forever. Smile

cool. does chrome wear off though? i know anodized does.

Through centuries of break use it will, but proving you keep the rim in good nick, keep it dry ect its perfectly fine. Smile
