but a cheep ass point and shoot camera and a bottle of ice tea, then cut the ice tea bottle up and make 4 strips of plastic around the cap. Then buy a tri pod screw and drill it though the middle of the cap duck tape the straps in a fasion that makes the camera point straight. and you have helmet cam, if you do it right you get something like this

 good idea but use a block of wood instead, that thing sheet metasl is gunna be wobbly as fuck

 your description asks for other camera gear that you could build, some suggestions that i would recommend are a steadicam and a jib. you can find how to build them basicaly anywhere online.

 and by block of wood i mean plywood of course lol:P

 i would scrap the skate board wheel and put some roller blade wheels on they roll smoother faster and much better
