well if you race downhill yes you would deffinetly need gears, but if you just want to have fun and ride djs and downhill you dont realy need to, and i must say like you and nosnibor have some fkin sweet rides

why not have a bike with gears for fun. its easier to ride dirt jumps with gears than it is to ride downhill singlespeed. ha! its been nice arguing with ya.

i think some people just see them as a hassle, but yeah it makes alot more sense, and its been fun having a bit of banta with you aswell

no gears = less maintanence + for the places he rides he might not use them as much, and if you read the description it says he put them on before he lowered them to see what they looked like.

i had single speed and i pedaled up hills easily.

dont need to, pump off the terrain, pop some manuels it all helps,

yeh single speed is fine for what i do and i can get up hill easy but you can really say you can get enough speed on downhill by pumping and manualling, nosnibor is one of the fasted people i know at downhill and if he says you need gears to go fast downhill i would tend to beleive it ...

they have rebound and a red cap on top ... and seed compression thingy on the bottom, i dont have them at the monent swappped with a mate for a few days but will check when i get them back
