Thats good then Big Grin When they first took the cast off of my arm, i nearly passed out ! Was not expecting 4 of them to be sticking litrally out my arm. Looks like something off of a horror film ! When they took your cast off did your arm just go floppy and find it hard to keep your wrist up ?

You may be lucky though, they might come out easy for you Big Grin

lol, it hurt to much for me to even try and move my wrist when they replaced the cast, i kept it in the exact same position it was already in since it swoll up after the crash, when the cast comes off, my wrist will have been held in a cast in the same 'limp-wristed' position for 7wks :-( tis gonna hurt like a bitch to move!

Your getting the same treatment as me it sounds like, the worst part for me was not being able to ride a bike for 11 weeks, then after about 5 more weeks i was able to start riding a bit harder and so on. Takes time dude, im not going to lie to you Frown When the cast finally comes off you get put into a splint which basicly is just a strap that you need to take off every so often and move the wrist about. Then eventually you can start leaving it off and start picking up jam jars ect and getting the strength back.

A word of advice is to drink a shitload of milk and eat your greens ! I found myself watching loads of mountain biking films to keep my motivation up and keep me going.

ha ha, i'm allergic to milkFrown ... so maybe some calcium supplimentBig Grin - I can already force my fingers around a jam jar and hold its weight, couldn't lift a small set of keys up 2wks ago, but by the time i can get back on a bike it'll snowy season where i am, so i won't be riding again until next spring (your next autumn)..... meh!

Atleast that gives you time to recover fully mate, maybe its best that way ! I was able to grip things in the cast, but when it was revoved i had no grip at all, probably because the cast gives so much support.

Whats the spec of your injury then ? I got 6 fractures, and a snapper ulna Big Grin

Yeh I think its the cast giving me the support too - I had 4 fractures in the end of my Radius and chipped the 'styloid' [think thats what it was called] off the end of my ulna.... let me guess, did you go over the bars too?Big Grin

Thats a nasty one ! Yeah i was on a 4X course and me and my friend said "one last run", had a little race and pushed to hard for the end of the day. Last jump on the course i misjudged it, went up and just went over the front. Not sure how it happend as i just blacked out the moment i realised i was going down, couple of seconds later i looked down at my wrist and it was f*cked ! What about you ?

Sounds to simular to me ! I dont know how i crashed, but my front wheel was mashed to hell. Its nasty when something bad happens but belive me it makes you a better rider, i came back with more confidence and more desire to shred than ever before. Few weeks after riding harder i smashed into a tree face first and caused myself major concussion LOL ! Dont remember the whole day, or events before it. Ah well Big Grin Wish you a speedy recovery dude Big Grin

Almost forgot, when your back riding. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOURSELF A WRIST WRAP, this saved my wrist many times i belive and then take it off when you have the confidence back.

The 661 wrist wrap race is very good, i have one myself and its pretty comfy. Doesnt affect your riding and your gloves can fit nicely underneath Smile

Its no problem dude Smile I know how nasty the injury is so anything i can pass on i shall Big Grin I cant stand body armour when riding for some reason, obvoiusly i wear my helmet, gloves, goggles, kneepads but thats it. I find it to restrictive !

dammit, cheers man - over the years I've developed a rather un-manly-like tendancy to pass out at the first sight of any remotely medical looking apperatus heading my way, so I probly won't feel a thing! Big Grin

Pretty much the same as me ! I warn you, pulling the kaywires out hurts like a bitch.

the nurse said it would be like having a plaster [band aid] pulled off.... maybe thats if you've got really hairy arms!

cheers man, I've actually been riding on/off for 12+yrs now and only since i got on my banshee have i been riding like a total hack and wiping out all the time, never broke a bone or bike part until four months ago... i'm not one to blame equipment and have tried to find other reasons for my terrible riding this season, but its pretty bleedin' obvious now that its something to do with the bike! - so I getting rid of it as soon as I'm back at work! Am currently trying to get hold of a Patriot 66 frame here in NZ [pretty impodssible] or failing that will save up for a new '10 Glory 01, either way, I'm considering the banshee a liability and won't be back on a bike for 10wks [or until I get a new bike] :-(

get the glory if you can. all that work you put into that bike...
