We have TONS of mountains here. I don't like riding so much DH but jumps and a little technical spots are great. I am not really into the speed of DH.

 You will love the speed of DH if you have a better bikes and forks

 My bike works great. I love the fork. Course I went from a cross country bike to this so it was a great upgrade for me. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a good fork/bike and then not want to free ride so we thought it best to try this out first and then go from there if I like it and am any good at it.

 I can understand that no worries Enjoying yourself is the most important thing

 Yes indeed!! And I am doing just that.
