Yeah? I demo'd one around a car-park but obviously couldn't get anything near the full "feel" out of her on flat tarmac, but I did love the extra clicky-hub she had on her! Clicky hubs are so lovely! My old Commencal was lovely for just tearing around the fell on, and I'm sure that bike would be equally nice for that sort of stuff. A nice XC ride on a decent bike is brill!
Haha! We managed to "persuade" them to get it down from the fairly looming £5,000 starting cost. Quite a lot down, actually, so I was happy about that. Allowed me to get myself a spine-guard and neck-brace too. So all was well. But, yeah, its like riding on silk. She's so balanced, too. Air-time just lets you do what you want, as no end tips. Moto-Whips are literally done by themselves on her, too, so she's lovely to show off with. Still, she's only 5 days old, and only ridden on her for 3 of those days, (the other two I couldn't as the fell was just a marsh) so I'm still getting use to her.
Haha yeah loud hubs rule the hubs on this thing are pretty shite though, shimano deore rear on a bonty front. the front is alright (bontrager hubs are just rebranded dt swiss) but the rear is rubbishhhh. low engagements, and too quiet for my liking
haha yeah the price was what put me off (even at trade) sounds good though i still want one
Yeah, I wont go back to Shimano's hubs. Had an M340 (?) on my old Commencal, and it just bust. Commencal's own on the front was ok, though.
The Bontrager ones on the Session must be something decent for the price, or so I'd hope... Still, no problems so far. The spokes are the DT Swiss ones I only put on my Commencal after a year of using it and fidning out the stock ones were shit. The Session came with 'em, so I'm glad about that, as they aren't cheap. Still true after one really bashing sesh, and a few rides on the fell, so yeah, hopefully the wheels will stay strong for months yet.
yeah those bontrager wheelsets are pretty good man. aside from my rear hub, my wheelset on this bike is amazing as well. it's spent 10 days in the peak district, a week in the forest of dean with both my dad and brother bashing it about and the wheels are still true. Think i've trued em up once and ive had it more than a year, not to mention theyre pretty damn light, and theyre tubeless ready if i ever went that way (which if i wanted to use this more offroad i would) i
I'm rocking tubeless on my iron horse and yeah its pretty damn good didn't really save any weight but i like the peace of mind not having to worry so much about punctures, [namely pinch flats]
Yeah dude she rides pretty nice the only thing i've changed since i got her is stem, tyres, grips and pedals. (well plus maintenance - chain, cassette, cables etc. lol) Haha seen your trek already dude! Wish i could afford a session, bet that thing rides BOOOOOtifully
yeah man its awesome but it's staying stock for now but will probably make it single ring up front with XT or SLX cranks, make it tubeless, and change the pedals.
it's 29lbs as it stands
Yeah man I love it, thinking I might get rid of the stinky and use this to stand in for it till I get a proper dh ride. Kinda unsure whether I'm going for platform pedals or spds cause I kinda want to try spds
