Lighting question: So I see that there is some kind of light that is luminating the dirt jumps, and you have your flash unit hiding somewhere on the left, which appears to be a cooler color temp than the light lighting the jumps. What about if you put a warming gel over the flash? I ask because sometimes when I see a photo it can be super obvious that there was a flash unit involved so having the color temps match make things seem to match the surroundings better...
Take this lightly, I know you know how to take photos! I'm a video person so I know the basic 5600k (warm) and 3200k (studio/indoor) termonology and for me it's super important, even when going into the shade it makes a huge difference!
yeah, I get what you're saying. For one it doesn't bother me at all that it's obvious that I used strobes, just by looking at the technique I used you can see too. It'll just help a bit with colour balance & because of the colour of the dirt I think it helps, if it was green or blue I think it might have been a problem. I kinda like all the oranges & blues I got here. I also don't carry gels around with me 99% of the time because this situation hardly ever happens. Good suggestion tho & if I ever plan for a shoot like this I'll def take some gels along & experiment a bit. Actually been keen to use colour gels just for fun again.
