I would love to see you build a better berm out of what they had to work with.
excavators can make that berm good as new in about 15 minutes.
Besides, thats what the berm used to look like after the damage riders caused the season before. If you look at their other pictures they have a picture of it rebuilt for this season and it looks good

I doubt its meant to be smooth, I think its meant to be rough so more skill is needed, but you don't have to compliment useless stuff like your comment above, I would love to see you build a better berm out of what they had to work with.

I think those are meant to act like braking bumps to help modulate your speed coming into the berm

There's another picture (www.pinkbike.com/photo/5463278) in the main story about this resort where they've repaired the berm, so this pic is just wear and tear.
