That's great advice man thanks! I was thinking painting my spare bars but didn't know how to do it properly. Cheers!

Yes, just use the same kind of paint if you mix colors and use light coats. Let it dry and then add another light coat. Have fun dude!

did you strip the frame prior to paint?
  • 2 0
 I sure did!
I sanded her down and washed her up and prepared for painting today!
The paint came out really smooth!
I did about 7 light coats and the 2 clear coats!
All very light so it dries smooth fast and nothing tacky!
I have the bike about 80% built now!

so nice! what did you use to paint with? how many coats?
  • 1 0
Thank you man! Yes, this came out really nice! I used just regular spray cans, a japanese brand so Im not sure what you have in canada. Then, I used light brown, dark orange, bright red and then last a clear coat. A tip when painting is use very light coats, let them dry and then another coat. You dont want to build up on layer you want then to sort of blend together is why you need light coats. I would say I have over 20 light coats of all the colors on here. Then of course the last 5 coats of clear. The surface should have a sort of matte feeling to it which is cool! So, you can leave it like that or you can use a very fine paint compound to make a good luster. If you paint in light coats the paint will never chip, like powdercoating does or most frames. Instead it will wear smooth or just get a scratch, but because there is no layer it wont chip! ahhahhahahahhha sorry for the long answer dude! RideOn!
