Well id hope the geo would be different LOL. They are two different companies... intended use is the same so i don't understand where u get this idea of deciding between the two being peculiar. Want to elaborate on that for me?
Their front triangle is pretty similar, but the rear is where it's all different. If you want street go with the DOB. If you want Dirt go with the Two6.
I wouldn't say that they are completely different because of a few altered angles. You were acting as if i was comparing a bmx to a dh bike LOL. They are both intended for park and dirt. They both have horizontal drop outs, 26" wheels, euro bottom brackets and are hardtails. So i beg to differ when you say they are "completely different" frames. I think you might want to take another look at the two.
Angles and dimensions are the only thing that distinguish how a bike feels. I think you need to do some research. The pinscher has chainstays almost 1" shorter. Bottom bracket height that is probably close to that as well. And Dob's are not meant for dirt at all. Show me one leading Dirt jump frame with sub 15" chainstays and a raised bottom bracket. You can't.
You just stated that the back end was all you saw that was different ahaha! Lots of people ride dobs dirtjumping (www.pinkbike.com/photo/2286179) It works well on box jumps (www.pinkbike.com/video/183475) so then what makes you think it wouldn't be able to handle dirtjumps? You need to re-think your argument. Ill make this real simple for you:
1. They are both intended for park and dirt. and I'm sure the dartmoor rides half decent for street. (although you may not) 2. They are both set up similar (horizontal drop outs, 26" wheels, euro bottom brackets and are hardtails) 3. If you are really that dumb to think an a few degrees and higher bottom bracket will make such a difference that your 360s turn into 720s then i feel sorry for you. Rider preference is the main reason they are different. (You should also know that Doberman likes to do things differently they don't follow set rules saying you have to have this dimension to have a good frame.) 4. To say they are "completely different" is completely Ignorant.
Here's what you're saying. If you saw someone shredding DJ's on a big bike, it would be alright to buy a big bike for DJ's. I never said that the frame will make you better. I'm saying it will feel more comfortable. The Two6 will feel more stable on jumps where as the Dob will maneuver easier on street. Chainstay length, Bottom Bracket height and Head Tube angle are what makes a bike feel what it is.
If you're comfortable on a bike you can do anything on it.
Only way to end this argument is to go and ride a Dob and then a Two6 or a frame with similar geometry and decide there.
Tyler, if you think a few degrees for a head tube doesn't make a difference, you shouldn't even be discussing geo. To call someone else ignorant because you can't comprehend what he's saying only makes you look like even more of a fool. Street frames and dirt frames can feel completely different depending on the rider. If you can't understand that, you shouldn't even bother arguing with others who actually know what they are talking about. Anyways, that's just my
He was trying to act as if both frames are completely different; that they are incomparable. they have lots of similarities as i listed. My argument is that just because of a few subtle geo differences doesn't mean that you can't dirtjump your dobermann. dobermanns are sick dj rigs. and just because the 26 player is not marketed for street doesn't mean it sucks balls at it. I think you guys really can't think on your own and are the marketers mercy when they start claiming that this geo will make you "twice" the rider and that everything will be sooo much easier. The rider is the most important part, if he feels comfortable on his bike, then who are you to say he has the wrong geo??? Geo counts don't get me wrong but its not like im comparing a bmx to a dh bike, for what's better at downhill racing.
Dobermanns have steep head angles where as the 26 Player has more relaxed geo. You can dirt jump a tricycle, now does that make it a dirt jump bike? No. From what i hear, Dobermanns are good on both dirt and street, but a Dobermann is designed more for street riding where as a Two6 Player is designed for dirt jumping. Having owned a P1(with a super low BB and a headtube angle a few degrees slacker than my current frames), I can say that there is a noticeable difference in feel. I have spent a fair amount of time on a Majesty and a Capital, and even those have their differences. Sure, I can do the same things on both, but the Cap is definitely easier to maneuver than the Majesty. No clue why I am even wasting my time telling you this, you don't seem to care about what I say anyways.
your right i don't really care what you have to say anymore. this is pinkbike after all. it's obvious that you guys aren't very open minded so why should i continue to share my point of view? All i can say is if thats true then you better go tell 90 percent of bmxers that they are not riding their bike correctly because they ride street bmxs on dirt. even in competition aha.
I've gotten a lot of time in on a Capital and P1, and there was a noticeable difference. Have you ridden either of these frames or you just being a close-minded dumbass like you make us out to be? Clearly I would know more than judging by the fact that I've actually had experience in the subject where as you have not. Ironically, you own both a BMX and dirt jumper. Way to make a point. BTW, I own a Dob as well, and after a couple hours of riding, I can honestly say the geo is definitely more street oriented than dirt. But apparently you know more about my bikes than I do...
i use it for light freeriding and trailriding. and yes i have rode a p1 and a capitol. a few degrees isnt going to make you a better rider. im sorry. go tell garret reynolds that he made horrible mistake by riding his street bmx in a park competition and winning the dew tour title. The rider is most important part. i dont care what you say, im done this argument.
I own both, you don't. I've had more time on both. Like I said a number of times, you CAN RIDE ANY DISCIPLINE ON ANYTHING, SOME ARE JUST MORE SUITED. Are you honestly THAT f*cking clueless and ignorant that don't understand a single word I said? I never said frames make a rider better either, so stop putting words in my mouth that I never said.
What the fucking fuck. Neither of us EVER said that a certain frame will make you a better rider in that genre so STFU about that. I think you are just trying to prove that to yourself. You my friend, are a fucking retard. Good Bye.
Well you started by saying a Dobermann Pinscher and a Two6 Player are pretty much the same frame, which is not true. But do tell me, how are custom frame builders staying in business in geo isn't really all that important? MY point exactly.
What Alain is doing is the ''marketing'' he is talking about("to sell more frames"). Do you honestly expect an owner of a company to say "Actually our frames completely suck shit for riding dirt jumps on, so don't bother wasting your money and look elsewhere. No, obviously not...
Shanks meng. I'm debating on painting my fork black. I painted my Pike when I had it and it turned out pretty rad. The only part I'm worried about is the crown as I've never done that before.
Should be simple. Remove lowers and internals. Tape stanchions up and tape the ...... crown race and tape the threads for the piston rods, and go at it. Layer, dry, layer, dry layer and dry.
Yeah, I kinda wanna murder it out...but we'll see. BTW, my buddy has Two6 as well and just got warranty on his frame and is running an orange frame with fluro yellow rims. It's dope, I'll upload a picture soon.
