The photo is missing the aluminum tube that goes between the main pivot bearings. Is it really a necessary part?

The photo is missing the aluminum tube that goes between the main pivot bearings. Is it really a necessary part?

 Yea I have the part. It is just not in the pic. I think if it cannot be removed, it can be made a lot lighter. Or I may even find a carbon tube same size. It has 31,6mm outer and 25,5mm inner diameter. I think the only sizes that matter are the inner diameter and the length though. Thanks for your advice.

 yeah it is important i suppose ! to space out the inner race of the bearings.. so they can not be too much compressed together,,

 With out that tube you can't mount your frame back together,you need to order that part if that's not the case then you are screwed.
