Bristol's Oktoberfest XC race day - JOB DONE! My second and final race of the year is finished. This time accompanied with rigid forks and 29er front wheels which proved to be an excellent choice for the trail and weather condition we had here. 10th place taken in 'Solo Male 4hr' category and I'm as happy as I can be, however the targets for next year have already been set :]

Dont see the point in these lefty forks.

Can you see the point in car wheels being fit from one side only? Smile

Yeah. Quick repairs, but isnt there any flex in the actual fork if you catch something the wrong way?

How did the carbon fork hold up btw?

Lefty feels just like the regular forks, no flex as many suspect and in fact they are very stiff as they share the concept of dual crown forks. The carbon rigid fork is something I would laugh about a few years ago, but when you ride it with bigger wheel and on a nice steel frame, things starting make sense. It is a great tool for XC racing and commuting which I do mostly on my hardtail, but for the rough stuff and mountains the obvious choice is to use the suspension.

Ah ok, I thought they would have an increase in flex due to only one side of the axle being properly suported.

Yeah, I think it would be sketchy trying to use one with a 26" wheel but Ive had the chance to ride on a 29er hardtail and its amazing at how it rolls over technical stuff. Still felt a bit clumsy round corners though. Hows the handling effected with this?

The handling is very precise from my experience, there is no flex or forks diving, no power loss.

Awesome Koval! Good job and glad to here the 29 rigid is working cool! A nice option to consider! RideOn!

Thanks Niko, I still can't believe I transformed my bike into this weird thing. 29+rigid works surprisingly well and changed my riding again, I feel like I've achieved another level in bike riding. This is the experience not to be missed and I would recommend it to anyone who rides smooth trails or commute with the mountain bike.

Get a proper niner! Now you're just showing off how open minded person you are...

Waki, I have to many great 26" tires to be burned, this is what's stopping me to go full 29 ... and that shows how open minded I really am Wink
