Linkage is all the same, I'm betting it went through an anodizing process. The description supports it.

anodizing can be done without color, the thing is that anodizing is not colorin the aluminum, is creating a coating over the aluminum that is harder than aluminum thus protecting it from weather and abrasion, plus you can add some color in the process.
