Stick to 15" BBS rims, rokkor coilovers and call it quits. Don't bother with the M3 kit, it's like putting specialized stickers on a halfrauds bike IMHO. If you want to kit something up then buy an airfix model- look how cool they look with little done...
PS- search youtube / google for BMW 325i & topgear. You'll see the problem with lowering them, paving slabs / lead in the back sorts out the handling a little bit as they're too light at the back to get enough traction. E30's + wet roads = Swan lake ballet complete with gratuitous priouettes.
Strange though... I was contemplating one of these too, granted an E30 M3, but I do have a soft spot for the old E30- it's just an arse finding a clean one for under £30k.
Couldn't afford insurance, and was expensive renting a lock up probably more than it was worth, and seeing as my dad was paying for it, it was up to him. i cried.

If you do go M3, remember to get the arches as well as they're a lot wider - www.crankandpiston.com/brain/media/2011/01/phoca_thumb_l_Valokuva181-1.jpg
