 lol

Im sure i put up a better picture (i.e with the correct front wheel).
The rims are actually citron, weighty and resonable strong but not what i wanted.

www.pinkbike.com/photo/8147085 - ahh my bad. What wheels would you rather have?
  • 1 0
Thats not the same bike haha! That ones under construction.

Looks like i hadnt put it up. It is now.

Nukeproof generator race rim (sun mtx29) sapim cx ray spokes (expensive!) gold nipples and goldtec draco pro comp hub.

DOH! Too much beer in my system. CX Rays are cyclocross spokes right?
  • 1 0
They are bladed, rated for DH use though. Something like £2.50 a spoke. I got a free upgrade as odd size spoke (16mm nipples) and now im kicking myself as the rear is going to be £70 or so lol They do look good though when you see them.

I might use them on my new custom wheel builds. Didn't really think about it before.
  • 1 0
Theyre expensive though! Very nice overall though. You may want dt swiss revolutions, they are cheaper but not rated for dh but similar design and stuff.
  • 1 0
I guess so. Not an expert on wheel builds, but something light but long lasting will do.
  • 1 0
These or the revs then i reckon.
  • 1 0
 lose some stack height...
  • 1 0
 Why?

I may, i may not. Not sure yet.
  • 1 0
'cause it looks pretty silly, all about having a low front end!
  • 1 0
I dont think it looks all that bad, but agree, it will look better with less. Will do some runs and see where i like it before i cut. Will probably take 30mm or so off though i reckon.
  • 1 0
yeahh, it'll look cleaner and less xc'ish haha... look pretty sweet when you get it sprayed... should do some sort of blog about the re-build ?!
  • 1 0
Thanks fellow. I now see what you mean! It has taken a while so enough to blog i guess. I havent blogged before though...

My mate even cracked the frame at one stage haha! lol
  • 1 0
haha.... blogging is pretty simple, I started then got super busy with uni work and what not!

What site do you use to blog? It would probably be a one time thing for me though.

Wow she looks very nice yeah miss the old frame but ur get more use out of it then I did lol yeah can't what to see ur rims gold nips bring it on

 Thanks mate.
  • 1 0
sweet tup , the new frame you were saying about?
  • 1 0
Yep thats the one. Cant wait for paint. So as per description and also need to ream the seat tube and get some goodridge hose and fittings for the rear brake as it has the 6mm hope hose currently.
  • 1 0
ahh nice Smile cant wait to see the finished product, in my mind it looks sweet Smile

At least im not the only one that can picture it then!

Wheels will take a while as its £80 for the 2 rims, got the gold nipples already and around £250 for the goldtec hubs. Then spokes.
  • 1 0
why are you reaming the seat tube may I ask ?
  • 1 0
ahh yeah, thats the only thing i hate about building your own wheels that
  • 2 0
Also, I'd recommend going for a set of Hope hubs... I'd had bolts and stuff sent for free to replace broken ones, great customer service!
  • 1 0
Well the wheels (full nukeproof generator) are around £300 but mine will have goldtec hubs which blows most other things out of the water so it should be worth it. I reckon the wheels should be below 2kg's.

Im reaming the seat tube as this one missed QC somehow and has some warping where the top tube joins the seat tube.

That is great but goldtec are superior to hope in my opinion (and in the opinion of goldtec staff who have tested most).
  • 1 0
Hope for lots of the other things though
  • 1 0
guess it's down to personal opinion, it'll take a lot of persuasion of a fucking good deal to steer me away from replacing my pro 2's with anything other than pro 3's when they die...
  • 1 0
Pro 3's are rim brake only arent they?

Hope are good but you shouldnt need to be persuaded to get goldtecs, especially since theyre similarly priced.

The guy i was speaking to on here who works for betd was running kings but he said that was only for a change and not because they are better.
  • 2 0
by pro 3... I definitely meant pro 2 Evo...

I know how they perform and what not so I'd stick with them anyway Smile
  • 1 0
 lol

There arent many reviews but the ones that are around rate them very highly.

They also make burgtec hubs so the goldtec branded ones will be the same quality.

People running the old dracos for over a decade an dthey havent changed the design or owt for about the same time!

The wheels will be what i want them to be though, colour is often my downfall!
  • 1 0
You need a gold seat clamp. But sweet bike.
  • 1 0
Thanks a lot. I appreciate your comment. It did have a silver hope one on there but will be getting a gold one at some point.
