Low gearing is rare on Scott trailbikes, but they got it right this time. The red aluminum guard bolted onto the ISCG tabs keeps the chain from destroying the carbon frame. The covered port is for the internal routing of a dropper post. If a Reverb Stealth Dropper post is used the housing re-enters at the back of the seat tube. (a dropper post is rudely missing on this otherwise wonderful trailbike)

This is a proprietary chain protector for the Scott Genius, but you could probably mod something to fit the Shinobi from an old guide backplate...

ya grinding up hills seems to be almost impossible in the low gear... chain suck, especially if the suspension is active... loops the chain over the chainstay and traps it there... this looks like just the ticket... guess a visit to the local blacksmith may get me sorted... Smile

Not really anything better than this angle. Try taking an MRP or E13 guide backplate though, and then just cutting it down to fit the shinobi's little ring, you made need to space it a bit to fit up against the ring.
