Jumping the big road gap on one of our local trails. It's something like 7-8 meters wide, (once I overshot it by 2.5m, landed on pure flat and that was not fun)

Yeah the dirt is good, but not good. It's full of clay on this part of the mountain as you can see, so if it rains a lot it's sticky, and if it doesn't rain the lips fall apart.

and we haven't had rain for 5 months this year....

I'm quite lucky at my local we have got really sandy dirt with just enough clay to hold it together , drains really well too.
