 Yea. The lenses from lensbaby are fun. And if you have a DSLR already it's worth to get one and play around with.

 Well, I used a tilt-shift lens. With such a lens it is possible to tilt the plane of focus so that you can achieve this type of photos. It is a bit hard to work with since the focus is all manual, but at the same time it's great fun. If you wan't to get something similar, lensbaby sells lenses which are not too expensive.
