Broken bearing! This is the smaller bearing located on the rocker arm on my DirtBag. On my last ride I noticed the rear was not tracking well and it just didn't feel right. On that same ride I was testing a set of offset bushings from (OffSetBushing.com) so I was thinking perhaps that was the reason the rear felt *off*. Anyway, $5.00 (USD) for a new bushing and it's good to go again (swapped the other side as well). Also pictured is the Transition Bike Bearing Tool which makes doing this job faster and so much easier. :-)

I see now, that is really broken, ahahahahha Some how lots of pressure was put on this to break it this bad. Unless its just the wear over time.

It was weird - it was laying in the rocker arm slightly cocked in an angle. But it was wedged in good and I was a bit leery about trying to tap it out with a hammer because I thought the bearing was still good. If I knew it had blown up like that I would have just pounded it out! lol

I think it was sitting in the rocker arm cocked/angled because it had collapsed. Oh well ... I've got new bearings in both rocker arms and it's back to being buttery smooth! Smile

Didn't have to walk it home. I didn't discover the bearing being busted into I got it home and was trying to dial in the rear suspension. As for the tool, they have a few online. In fact I bought the tool a couple of days after I noticed a problem with the bearing. I wished I had taken a pic of the bearing when it was in the rocker arm - it was cocked in a angle! At the time I didn't think it was broken but i also was having problems trying to extract it. I was still under the impression that the bearing was good so I was leery about pound it out with a hammer. Even with the tool it took some effort before the bearing finally got pressed out. I've never had a bearing blow up like that before!
